Motiv Plus is £4.99 a month. See what's in it

Blocks you can shape.

Choose apps, whole categories or a website, then decide when they are off-limits. iOS does the blocking, so it holds with Motiv closed.

Either way round

Blocked Yours

Blocked times You name the hours it blocks.

Allowed times You name the hours it leaves alone.

Both rows are the same day. The bar underneath each is the part you actually type in.

Four ways a block starts

  • Instant. Starts now, for a length you set.
  • Schedule. Recurring weekly windows, up to six per block.
  • Location. Plus Blocks when you get to a place, or when you leave one.
  • Daily limit. Plus Once your chosen apps pass the time cap you set.

Combine them. Block social only at the office, or only on weekday mornings, or both.

  • Place groups. Plus One name covers several places, so “Work” means the office and the studio.
  • A daily allowance. Three unblocks a day on Free. On Plus you choose, up to twenty.
  • Your own words on the blocking screen. Plus Write what you want to read when an app is blocked.
  • It repairs itself. Motiv checks its blocks against what iOS is really holding, and restores any that went missing.

There are five ways to let yourself back past a block, and four of them are free. See how a block actually holds

Blocking needs Screen Time permission, and iOS only asks once. Skip it and everything else here still works.

Routines, reminders, tasks.

Routines are the habits you are building. Reminders are the things you must not forget. Tasks are today's one-off wins.

Routines

  • Subtasks. Tick the parent and the rest go with it, in order if the steps depend on each other.
  • A challenge timer. Finish inside the time you set and the routine earns extra points.
  • Repeats however you need. Daily, weekdays, chosen days, every two weeks, monthly or yearly.
  • Any pattern you like. Plus Every third week, the last Monday of the month, or a run of ten sessions.
  • Starts itself when you arrive. Plus No tap and no notification, so it is already running when you sit down.
  • Start from an example. Morning kickoff, wind down or workout, all editable before you save.
  • Private notifications. Hide task names from the Lock Screen, per routine.

Reminders

  • Several times a day. One reminder covers morning, noon and night. Three free, unlimited on Plus.
  • Remind until done. It nudges again until you tick it.
  • Done from the Lock Screen. Tick it or snooze it straight from the notification.
  • Nothing is ever late. An overdue reminder just moves to Earlier.

And a fortnight you can rearrange.

Change one day without changing your week: skip tomorrow's routine, move a reminder, pause a block for Saturday. All of it free.

The next fourteen days, starting tomorrow.

  1. Focus block paused, that Saturday only
  2. Morning routine moved to 10:00
  3. A block added for this day only
  • Today’s tasks. Finished ones lift your score, open ones cost nothing. Five a day free.
  • Move it rather than fail it. Push an unfinished task to tomorrow, a date you pick, or a someday list.
  • Holiday Mode. Plus Freeze your streak for a date range, and choose what keeps running.

One number, at the end of it.

Everything above adds up to one daily Focus Score. You have no score at all until you do something.

Exactly what moves it

82
An example day.
  • Only what you did counts.

Never taken away for a day you didn't.

  • There is no red.

A quiet day never sets you back.

  • Consistency raises the ceiling.

Showing up is what lifts it.

What it shows you back.

Where your score came from, your patterns over the month, and Apple’s own Screen Time report. None of it leaves the device.

  • Where today’s score came from. Routines, protected time and consistency, broken out.
  • Nothing hidden. The unblocks you took and the blocks you ended early, named plainly.
  • Your riskiest hour. Motiv finds when you reach for blocked apps most, and offers to build the block for it.
  • Four weeks of patterns. Plus Routines and protected minutes by weekday, and a map of when you met a block.
  • The Screen Time report. Total time, pickups and notifications, by day, week or month.
  • Full history. Plus Free shows today and yesterday. Plus keeps all of it.

Focus timer

A Pomodoro timer that blocks your chosen apps for the whole sprint.

  • Three presets. Classic 25/5, deep work 50/10, or a quick 15/3.
  • Your own lengths. Plus Set the sprint, the break, and how many rounds.

And the small things.

  • Home Screen widgets. Your score, what’s protected, and a routine checklist you can tick without opening the app.
  • Live on the Lock Screen. Plus A block, a routine or a sprint counting down, tickable without unlocking.
  • Notifications you control. Every kind switchable, plus a master mute. One always gets through: your blocks stopped enforcing.
  • Nothing to sign into. No account, no server. Analytics and crash reports stay off unless you turn them on.
  • Your data, on your terms. Export everything as a file, or erase everything in one tap.
  • Built to be usable. Full Dynamic Type, VoiceOver labels throughout, and Reduce Motion honoured.

What Motiv is not

  • iPhone only. No iPad, no Android, no web app.
  • No account, and nothing syncs between your devices.
  • No backup. Delete Motiv and the setup goes with it, so export a copy first.
  • English and light mode only.

Stop paying and nothing is deleted. Your extras pause, and everything comes back when you resubscribe.

What iOS won't let any app do

Motiv arrives on iPhone soon.
